Who is Jesus to you?

I heard this question last week and it really stuck with me.

It is a simple question that can say a lot about someone’s journey of faith. I think that it could be asked effectively to both Christians and non-Christians. It doesn’t have a pre-supposed “right answer” and is non-confrontational.

My response?

Jesus is my Lord and Savior. He continues to teach me about what it is like to live as one of his followers in a kingdom that is not of this world, but is coming into the world.

What is your response?

  1. I agree totally with your response – Lord and Savior

Having said that, I would suggest we are asking the wrong question. Who is Jesus to me seems to suggest there is some level of subjectivity to the personhood of this member of the Trinity. Its implies that, in fact, multiple answers as to who Jesus is are viable. I would argue they are not. Jesus is, well, Jesus.

The better question might be – Who is Jesus, and what does that mean for me. To that I would say:

He is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, he is the Prince of Peace, our Saviour and our Lord, our redeemer and our teacher, and much more. What it means for me – I should follow and obey.
